Yes, seriously!", "subtitle": "", "track": "Presentation track", "type": "Longer Talk", "language": "en", "abstract": "Despite the long-term trend to automate tests as much as possible, software developers are faced with the reality where this is theoretically possible but practically hard to achieve. One good example is the Mobile Linux distribution postmarketOS, where pre-release testing is conducted manually by device maintainers and the project's community. Promising efforts to automate the process have seen work and remarkable progress for years, yet, it is unlikely that they will effectively close all gaps, obsoleting the need for manual testing.\n\nA key challenge for manual testing is the management of the process. Testers need proper guidance by well-designed test plans while developers and release managers need meaningful testing reports. While several tools exist for this purpose, most are too complicated and too heavy-weight for community projects. With KiwiTCMS and SystemTestPortal two open source systems are available that were designed to fill this gap. However, like any server-based system, employing these systems requires infrastructure setup and maintenance.\n\nThis talk presents the conceptual idea of \"SystemTestPortal Lite\", an alternative to SystemTestPortal that runs completely in the web browser without the need to install or operate services. Instead, projects only need to provide data files with the test plans in their repositories. I maintain ~400 packages in Alpine \u2013 notably, most of Mozware \u2013 as well as review MRs and handle silly issues. I've also been rather fascinated by making things work on Alpine/musl, like [Spotify](https://ptrcnull.me/posts/spotify-on-musl.html), [Firefox](https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/people/commits/5206/), or Servo[\\[1\\]](https://github.com/servo/ipc-channel/pull/340)[\\[2\\]](https://github.com/servo/servo/pull/32772), trying to upstream fixes whenever possible.\n\nBesides that, I'm really keen on useful tooling[\\[3\\]](https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/ptrcnull/apkcircledep)[\\[4\\]](https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/ptrcnull/alpine-mirror)[\\[5\\]](https://git.ddd.rip/ptrcnull/apatch/src/branch/master/apatch) \u2013 if you're like me in that regard, stay tuned for my Sunday talk <3", "public_name": "Patrycja Rosa (ptrcnull)", "guid": "60e784e6-711c-561d-ae21-8cb07f58d98c", "url": "https://pretalx.postmarketos.org/postmarketos-conference-2026/speaker/HCXGZG/"}], "links": [], "feedback_url": "https://pretalx.postmarketos.org/postmarketos-conference-2026/talk/RJMFN8/feedback/", "origin_url": "https://pretalx.postmarketos.org/postmarketos-conference-2026/talk/RJMFN8/", "attachments": []}, {"guid": "bac52ac5-55c0-5ea8-8344-92749cc9a7e5", "code": "TKAHSX", "id": 21, "logo": null, "date": "2026-09-27T16:00:00+02:00", "start": "16:00", "end": "2026-09-27T16:20:00+02:00", "duration": "00:20", "room": "5053.2 (Gro\u00dfer B-IT Raum)", "slug": "postmarketos-conference-2026-21-xiotrace-xnu-i-o-tracing", "url": "https://pretalx.postmarketos.org/postmarketos-conference-2026/talk/TKAHSX/", "title": "xiotrace - XNU I/O tracing", "subtitle": "", "track": "Presentation track", "type": "Talk", "language": "en", "abstract": "[xiotrace](https://codeberg.org/neuschaefer/xiotrace) hooks the XNU kernel used on certain mobile devices in order to trace I/O operations such as SPI transfers.
